Don't Just Trust the Work. Verify it.
While my primary goal is to realize the finest sonic performance your vintage audio equipment is capable of, I am also committed to eliminating the uncertainty that often comes with vintage audio servicing.
That’s why Stereo Artisan follows a Visually Verifiable Servicing Method—a standard rarely offered in the vintage audio repair industry. Every major repair or refinement is documented with high-resolution before-and-after photographs of the actual sections serviced. Each photograph includes your unit’s handwritten serial number, providing visual confirmation that the documented work was performed on your equipment.
Instead of asking you to simply trust the workmanship, I provide visual proof of what was done. You won’t just enjoy your unit’s finest musical performance—you’ll also have complete confidence knowing it was treated with the highest standard of workmanship.
THE APPROACH
My attitude toward vintage audio equipment is different.
I treat every single unit as a unique piece – its own identity, its own characteristics.
Over the years, it’s been through:
· Different owners
· Different environments
· Different care and treatment
· Different usage
· Different work done on it
So it ages differently. Each one has its own character.
That’s why its treatment is unique to it.
For me, there’s no one-size-fits-all service. The work is always specific and tailored.
SERVICES
TARGETED REBUILD (Proactive Repair)
When a fault is traced to a specific circuit section, rebuilding that board often provides the most reliable solution. Components that age together are serviced together, reducing the likelihood of repeat failures.
FACTORY FAITHFUL RESTORATION
Primary aging components throughout the unit are renewed to restore long-term reliability while preserving the original sound character of the design.
SONIC PERFORMANCE RESTORATION
Where appropriate, carefully selected component improvements may be incorporated to enhance stability, reduce noise, and support optimal sonic performance—while respecting the original circuit design.
The PROCESS
Every repair and restoration follows a careful and deliberate process. Understanding the unit’s current condition is the first step toward restoring reliable operation and sound quality.
INITIAL EVALUATION
Each component begins with a detailed inspection and diagnostic evaluation. Previous repairs, aging components, and circuit conditions are assessed to understand the current state of the equipment.
Basic operational checks and electrical measurements are performed to identify both immediate faults and any underlying conditions that may affect long-term reliability and sound quality.
COMMUNICATION
Once the evaluation is complete, the owner is informed of the unit’s condition and the recommended approach, ensuring clarity before any work begins.
REPAIR and RESTORATION PLANNING
The condition of the equipment is reviewed and the most appropriate restoration approach is determined.
Depending on the needs of the unit and the goals of the owner, the work may involve a Targeted rebuild (Proactive Repair), a Standard Restoration, or a more comprehensive Sonic Performance Restoration.
This stage ensures that the restoration plan is thoughtful and appropriate rather than applying the same procedure to every component.
CRAFTED RESTORATION WORK
Once the restoration path has been established, the work is carried out with careful attention to the original design of the equipment.
Aging components are renewed where necessary, circuit sections are stabilized, and any known reliability concerns are addressed. The intention is always to preserve the integrity of the original engineering while restoring dependable operation.
TESTING and VERIFICATION
After restoration work is completed, the equipment undergoes testing to verify proper operation and stability.
Measurements, listening checks, and extended operation help confirm that the component is performing as expected and ready to return to regular use.
If you have a piece that deserves this level of attention, craftsmanship, and work transparency — Whether it’s a family heirloom or the first meaningful audio purchase you ever made — I’d love to hear from you.
